In October 2020, Mario Dedivanovic, Kim Kardashian's longtime friend and makeup artist, launched his own beauty brand named Makeup by Mario.
The initial design concept came from our partners at Element Packaging Group and was further refined with our design team in Hong Kong. The Master Eye Collection Artist's Box, features the artist's special eye makeup line — formulated to enhance and simplify the makeup experience at every level.
The collection includes palettes, shadows, products, tools, and brushes, packaged in a limited-edition custom-designed case.
The initial design objective was to create an exclusive cosmetic case capable of holding a women's daily makeup routine. All products and tools of the Master Eye Collection artist's Box are securely accommodated in an elegant and compact hinged carrying case.
The main structure of the case is MDF, as it provides a strong, durable structure and is easy to work (especially important in this case, as the lead time for production was extremely short). It also has a completely smooth surface (compared to a regular wood) that allows the paper wrap to adhere securely. The final laminated, paper wrap gives a final polished appearance to the case.
The clean, nearly all-white kit comes in what looks like a travel case from a space-age population that cracked the code on product design. “It felt like the future of makeup in a sense,” Mario Dedianovic says. “I hadn't seen anything like this when it was presented. Also, it felt pure.”
Reflecting on this project, it was a real challenge to design & then manufacture the cases to the high specification required in the very short time frame available. The final product reflects Mario's vision through a clear, sleek design that caters to what’s important and speaks to customers in the right way. When it comes to beauty and cosmetic packaging — the sky’s the limit.
